The Kandy Shoppe - Debora Dennis

One sexy repairman, a little melting ice cream, and a lot of red-hot desire just might give dessert a whole new meaning.

Kandace Parker wants nothing more than to have a thriving ice cream parlor, but her run down equipment isn’t cooperating. Watching her profits melt away each time her freezer breaks is only half her problem – the other half is her sexy repairman, Jason Chapman.

Jason is man enough to admit he’s made some mistakes in his personal life; the biggest one was pushing Kandy away years ago. He knows the Ice Cream Queen won’t willingly give him a second chance, so he devises a plan to keep him front and center in her life with the hopes of wearing her down.

How far will Jason go to get his second chance? How far will Kandy go to keep her freezer running? When desires collide in The Kandy Shoppe, they'll have to decide if decadent sex is enough or if love can be the best dessert.

Kandy ShoppeThis was a short, sweet, delectable little treat.

Jason and Kandace have a history that goes back further than college years. During their college years Jason kinda dumped Kandace, but he had his reason, one that wasn’t malicious. Now years later he wants another chance with Kandace, and she won’t give him that chance, even though she’s all kinds of hot for him.

Kandace, now the owner of her grandfather’s candy shop, has turned it into an ice cream shop. Well her freezer keeps breaking down, and who keeps showing up to “fix” the thing?? Yes, Jason. He and his brother now run the repair business that was started by their father. Jason has been sabotaging Kandace’s freezer for the past year, so he could keep trying to get her to go out with him. Finally Jason determines that the freezer is no longer repairable, and Kandace can’t afford a new freezer, so Jason negotiates with her in exchange for that dinner date, and maybe a bit more.

Jason was fun, sexy, and downright delicious; I savoured every bit of him.

This novella is super short, so if you’re looking for a quick sticky romp, I definitely recommend this!!

Rocky Mountain Heat - Vivian Arend

ebook, 79 pages
Published August 31st 2009 by Liquid Silver Books

Rocky Mountain Heat (6 Pack Ranch, #1)Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble’s a blonde wearing a cowboy hat with slim legs that go on forever, what’s a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. Hell, he was the one that taught her to ride a horse and now all he can think about is riding her. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.Jaxi has other plans for his hands, and his heart. She may have considered Blake a big brother once but that was a long time ago. She’s all grown up now and ready to convince him that she’s just what he’s been waiting for.Add the complication of two sexy younger brothers who have suddenly noticed Jaxi and things heat up fast. Blake’s gonna have to decide if a little trouble is worth fighting for.

I have been wanting to read this book since I read some reviews for it months back,  I love me a hot cowboy romance and this one looked like it was going to be right up my alley. The books starts with one hot prologue, that straight away gets the blood pumping and sets up the rest of the book just peachy.
The story is about a family ranch with 6 delicious brothers and one sweet as sugar neighbour who has grown up and has set her sights on eldest Coleman brother, Blake. After Blakes mum breaks her arm in nasty fall, Jaxi is called in to help out around the house and to her benefit put her in very close proximity to Blake. A very sensual dance of flirting begins and it lights one hell of a fire.
Both Jaxi and Blake are very likeable characters and the two are just sizzling in the chemistry department. I loved all the family and found myself at times laughing out loud. I am particularly interested in Travis Coleman. He is hiding a dark secret, and although I think I know what it is, I’m looking forward to seeing that revealed down the track.
Blake is 10 years older than Jaxi, so to Blake it felt like their relationship was more big brother/ Little sister and he had some major issues over coming this and seeing Jaxi as a grown woman. It was so hot reading these two fight their feelings for one another when it was clear that both just wanted to jump one another.
I actually didn’t realize this was a novella when I first started reading, but to be honest it was still a fantastic read. The characters had depth and back stories given to them and the period of time in which the story took place was well spanned out and not crammed in. This made the story much more believable.
This was my first but definitely not my last Vivian Arend read. I would highly recommend to anyone who is in need of a quick and hot Cowboy romance read.  I read it in the space of an afternoon/ night and I cannot wait to jump onto the next book, ROCKY MOUNTAIN HAVEN.

Bag Girl By Night Giveaway - Lacey Alexander

We have been lucky enough to be given a paper back copy of Lacey Alexanders 'Bad Girl by Night'

Bad Girl By Night (H.O.T. Cops, #1)

A steamy new series that will have fans on lock down.

Meet the H.O.T. cops, a group of alpha males trained in law enforcement-but naturally skilled at the art of pleasure.

The people of Turnbridge, Michigan, see Carly Winters as the respectable-yet painfully single- good girl. None of them knows what she does miles away, where she becomes Desiree, a seductress who lures men into nights of heated passion.

Until the day she's introduced to the new cop in town-Jake, one of the men who fulfilled her darkest fantasy. His arrival turns her safe world upside down. Carly's good and bad girl personas clash, and she must decide who she needs to be...

My Review...

Wow. This was uber smutty! I didn’t know what to expect going into this read. I have read a tonne of Toni Blake novels, but this was personally my first Lacey Alexander read, and I had a fair amount of warning from a girlfriend that this might not be up my alley.  What can I say? I found the book really good and now I’m very intrigued to see what else Lacey Alexander has to offer.

The first half of the book was heavily addictive and I could not stop the page turning, half way got a little past my boundaries of propriety but by the end it was all wrapped up with a bow on top.
Heroine, Carly Winters has been living a double life; one as herself, small town girl who runs her own business and one as, Desiree, who is a sexually free and confident woman. But when she runs into the new cop in town, Jake Lockhart, and realises that he was a man she had an unforgettable one night stand and ménage with as Desiree, everything changes.  Carly is petrified that he is going to let out her secret about her double life. But Jake has no intention of telling anyone Carly’s secret, because all he wants....is Carly.

Alexander has seemed to start this series off with a bang (literally). The plot was well written, it was thoughtful and well plotted, the characters were well developed and had wicked back stories to their past and the romance was off the scale hot.

Both heroine and hero were very mature characters who I thought were both likable in their own ways.  Their romance constantly pushed boundaries and they both make mistakes, but both paid the price and had to pay consequences for their foolish behavior.  While I was reading it, I could feel the impending doom bubbling up and new it was going to blow at any moment. Thankfully after reading Toni Blake previously, I knew and trusted that the HEA would ultimately be our final destination.

Im looking forward to the next book, Party of Three, which sadly isn’t released until 2012. So, if you’re looking for a very hot erotic read, with some freakingly hot ‘love’ scenes and an actual story line to go with it – then this is your book.

Warning: This book contains explicit sex (including oral and anal), graphic language, mild spanking, m/f/m and m/f/m/m ménage, the use of handcuffs, and some very creative use of a chocolate pie.

Anchor and Storm - Kate Poole

Edgar Armstrong, Earl of Callander, had not given much thought to marrying and producing an heir...until he meets Emily Sinclair. When their easy companionship grows into love, they learn that Edgar's progressively debilitating disease could be passed on to his children. As their joy turns to despair Edgar finds a solution. If he can't get her with child he knows just the man who can. But will Emily agree to his plan?

Angus MacNeill, Lord Callander's groom, thinks Emily married Edgar for his title, his money and the security he can give her. And when Edgar approaches him with a very unusual request Angus questions his master's motives. Still, it doesn't stop him from accepting Callander's terms -- it's the only way he can be with Emily, even if only until she conceives.

Deeply in love with Edgar, Emily will do anything he asks of her. But she never suspected he'd ask something like this! Despite Edgar's reassurances she worries that his plan could destroy their marriage rather than strengthen it. And when she makes her choice, Emily wonders if there's room enough for two men in her heart -- and in her bed.

Anchor and StormThis novel is one of my All Time Top Favorite Historical Romance novels, with a kick of permanent Ménage!

If anyone is wondering "Huh?" Let me explain. Don’t let the cover fool you. It's an HR and although I'm not into kinky ménage novels. This one wasn't kinky at all. It's totally worth it!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED IT!

Edgar Armstrong, Earl of Callander, never thought he could find someone as beautiful, smart, kind hearted and loving as Emily Sinclair. In return Emily, shows Edgar, she sees the man that he truly is, where he might think he's a useless old cripple, she sees otherwise. Sometime ago Edgar had a terrible accident while riding a horse, which he still now suffers from, and because of it he walks around with a cane. He will never be able to ride a horse again and do many other physical entertainments most men enjoy. Walking day after day with a cane makes him feel immobile. He doesn't feel this way when he falls madly in love Emily and marries her. Sharing a life with her makes him see there's more of his life he can experience.

Because of Edgar's short life span, that was caused by his accident and the illness that is spreading, he knows he doesn't have much time to waste. He needs Emily to bear a child of their own. He needs a child to pass his inheritance down to, so none of his assets gets passed down to his incompetent bastard nephew, which doesn't deserve a dime!

Edgar would do anything to keep his wife happy and full of joy. Now that their love for one another has bloomed. They try their hardest to conceive a child. Then they finally come to realize it’s impossible. Edgar is incapable of giving his wife a child of his own.

*Rubs hands together* this is when the novel gets GOOD! It's impossible not to love the characters! Sexy Angus MacNeill *sighs* which is Edgar's employee. He takes care of Edgar's horses, stalls etc. There's more to Angus, but you need to read the story and find out the juicy details. I refuse to let my flowing thoughts to ruin the story. Any who, if you haven't already guessed. Angus plays a huge role in this novel. I really thought it was a BAD idea. But I loved the devotion Edgar and Emily took to accomplish what they were thriving for. There was no one so trusting and loveable to involve but Angus MacNeill.

As time passes, the love between these three remarkable people took my breath away! The love they shared in the confinements of their own bedroom was all passion. I didn't have an awkward feeling at all while reading the sex scenes, it was nothing but Love!

All in all, if you read this review and I made you think " WOW, a novel beyond kinky ménage? Really?" I'm gonna say "Heck Yes" Go get yourself a copy! You will, with all honesty LOVE IT!!!

The Bikini Diaries - Lacey Alexander

The Bikini Diaries

While vacationing on Florida's Emerald Coast, shy Wendy Carnes spots a woman who personifies sex, a woman clearly ready for action. Inspired, Wendy gets a sexy new bikini and a new attitude. But if she does seduce a hot beach guy, what then? At what point does the fantasy become a reality? Can she really indulge in casual sex for the mere sport of it? When does the person you pretend to be become the person you are?

The Bikini DiariesHmmm... What do I think?

This book was steamy mentally and physical. I thought all the steamy sex was never gonna end. Thank Goodness it did, because it was a lot to handle.

The couple in this book Wendy & Brandon are very daring. Wendy wants to let loose and prove to herself she can be just like many pretty woman who flaunt themselves and love the thought of men/women who eye them & make them feel sexy. So Wendy wanting to try something new for a change gets curious for a week while away on a business trip at a Beach Resort. So that's where Brandon comes in this story. He’s more of a one night stand kind of guy till he meets his challenge Wendy. This is where the stories hotness heats up! They were both wrong thinking they could have just a one night stand, because it leads to more nights with hot, sticky, naughty sex! Which was totally insane. There wasn't one position or naughty thought they didn't do! Along with m/f/m & f/f action and of course the famous cucumber-turned sex toy scene.....Crazy stuff! *still trying to get a grip*

All in all, I enjoyed this book. It did have a sweet plot to the story.(when they weren't having mind blowing sex.) I suggest it to readers who are interested in a challenge to read something outta the ordinary that they would never pick up on their own. Go ahead challenge yourself. I dare you! Ahahaha......

Saddled and Spurred - Lorelei James

This beauty is no greenhorn - and she's about to rope the man of her dreams.

Cattleman Bran Turner is left shorthanded during busy calving season when a bull tramples his hired hand. Rural Wyoming isn't exactly a hotbed of qualified candidates, and the only applicant for the position is the pampered town beauty, Harper Masterson. The curvy cowgirl gets under Bran's skin at every turn, but with no other options, he reluctantly hires her.

When sexual sparks ignite, down-on-her-luck Harper enjoys convincing Bran that not only is she capable of pulling calves, feeding livestock, and handling backbreaking ranch chores, but she doesn't mind getting down and dirty, either. Harper also discovers the hot-bodied cowboy isn't all work and no horseplay...and he's got more than a few tricks up his sleeve.

Bran will learn quickly that Harper is no country mouse-and that she might just have what it takes to stick around for the long haul

Saddled and Spurred (Blacktop Cowboys, #2)

Dear Lorelei James,

Today I finished your erotic masterpiece ‘Saddled and Spurred’. Ms. James there is something special about your stories. I have a bad habit of forgetting I have two small children needing my upmost attention and a hubby waiting for dinner when Im reading your books. I think I’m in need of a dirty spanking. Well in my defence I only think this way because you seem to always include spanking in your books and all the chic’s love it.

I was so excited when your second in this series was released. You have such a knack for weaving in all the secondary characters – it leaves me hanging for more of your books. You have the wicked imagination for sex. If only I could be half as naughty as you. Your characters always come with the standard baggage – but who cares, cause there HAWT!

Ms. James, where can I find my own animalistic, dominating cowboy? My return email address is

Anyone who looks like the following would be fine by me –

I like me a firm arse...

And finally....

One that has bigger boobs than me - but they must be once again FIRM...

cowboy

I look forward to hearing from you with details.

SLAM BAM SAM.

Funny Funny Har Har #6

A man walks into a drug store with his 8-year old son. They happen to walk by the condom display, and the boy asks, “What’s are these, Dad?”

To which the man matter-of-factly replies, “Those are called condoms, son. Men use them to have safe sex.”

“Oh I see,” replied the boys pensively. “Yes, I’ve heard of that in health class at school.”
He looks over the display and picks up a package of 3 and asks, “Why are there 3 in this package?”

The dad replies, “Those are for high-school boys. One for Friday, one for Saturday, and one for Sunday.”

“Cool!” says the boy. He notices a 6-pack and asks, “Then who are these for?”

“Those are for college men,” The dad answers, “TWO for Friday, TWO for Saturday, and TWO for Sunday.”

“WOW!” exclaimed the boy. “Then who uses THESE?” he asks, picking up a12-pack.

With a sigh, the dad replied, “Those are for married men. One for January, one for February, one for March…”

Interview

Elenas Questions for Rachel...

I now understand why authors put so much time into writing one novel. Their goal is "perfection" Is there really such thing?

Funny you should ask this... No, there will never be a perfect novel because to whose perfection would you be writing too? Here are my guidelines for perfection: Try to fulfil every promise I've created, try to keep my characters consistent--even if they're moody, try to keep a plot twisting and always give the unexpected. Oh, and polish as much as I possibly can. Perfect? Never. The best I can write? Hopefully every time I'll get better than my best.

There will always be readers who like or dislike a novel. So while you have reader’s thoughts in mind. What is your goal?

I want my theme to come across. In The Last Rising, my theme is forgiveness. I want the reader to understand that it's okay to forgive yourself even over some really bad things you've done. And, of course to entertain. I want to know that a reader couldn't put the book down. Loved it. Want the next one. Those are the qualities I reach for.

And why do you spend countless hours with a numb tush and a hungry tired body sitting in front of your computer writing your buns off?

Sometimes I ask myself this very same question. :O But, the real answer is that this is the one thing I do that is totally for me and I don't have to share it with anyone else. Totally selfish, but as a mother, wife, sister, daughter, etc... I'm constantly giving a piece of myself to someone. But, this... this is mine.

When writing love and heart wrenching scenes, whether it's on both the hero and heroine, do you feel for your characters just like us readers do? While reading "The Last Rising" I cried my eyes out like a baby! Now C'mon spill the beans, is the box of tissue your new BFF? Hehehe....

There were moments that my heart caught, but because I'm on this end, I can step away. I'll tell you. The part of the book that really got me, was the first scene. When he asks her about her child. At that point, I thought: How am I going to get through this book? I have children. I have a son. The thought of not seeing him each and every day breaks my heart and I instantly knew that Ice was my hero. She's strong enough to continue on, even if she did rage against her people for a bit. I like that she's flawed. I love that she didn't handle his death well. But, before I give more spoilers away. Yes, I cried. Several times. The scene between Grey and Turner at the end really dug into me.

Sams Questions for Rachel...

The Last Rising was such a great novella! I often read novellas and feel like their very rushed and cut short in areas to make things fit. You seemed to mystify me, because I felt nothing was cut short and it was honestly like you fit a full length novel in to just over 100 pages. What’s the secret to making sure you get all the important stuff into a novella without cutting out all the good bits to short?

The Plot. The secret to writing a full novella is the plot. Keep it simple. There can only be one really big climax. Sure there are a bunch of things that lead up to it, but still there can only be one big moment. Other than that, I don't know. I write really short. Getting a full length novel out of me is like trying to steal a banana from a monkey. You guys read Piper's Fury and that book was only about 78K. I'm not quite sure what the real "secret" is, it's just how I roll. LOL

Ice is an awesome heroine. She could fit in here at our awesome blog. But what I want to know is, how do you come up with these characters and their bio’s? For instance, Ice – did you think of her name then make her eye colour glacier blue or was it the heroine had Glacier blue eyes and the name stemmed from there?

I totally create a person and their mood in my head first. Names are last. In fact I'm playing with a new story now, and the heroine is still nameless. But, I know her entire story. Ice came to me broken. When I was researching the story of Isis and Osiris, I was so touched by their heartache. So, when I began thinking about Isis in present day, Ice was born. The hair and eye color came after the woman and her name, but I knew her before I named her. If that makes any sense.

I read that you have a full time job by day and then write by night. How on earth do you manage to juggle all this and still have time for family and friends?

HAHAHA, this is the question everyone asks. LOL. On Friday, I sent my hubs a huge basket of candies to his job with a thank you card attached. I bribe him with beer and candy, lol. He's seriously the only way I'm still functioning right now. I get up two hours before I need to--when everyone is still in zombie mode and I write. Then when I get home, I'm lucky to have a hubby that prefers to cook over eating my forgotten burnt dinners. At about 7:00 pm each night I dig in. Now, that doesn't mean that I won't have serious interruptions throughout the night.
Oh, and he usually takes the kids everywhere with him to give me time to write. Seriously the best husband ever. I love him more each and every day. In October we will celebrate our 15th year together and I have to think of a really good gift for him. Maybe you guys have some ideas. ;)

Rhondas Questions for Rachel...

I NEED to mention Piper's fury here, because she's freakin Awesome and I want everyone to know about her as well. She is such a fun, amazing character to read, (one of my all time favorites) and she really wriggled her way into my heart. I understand there will only be 2 books for Piper. *heavy sigh* Do you really think her story can be wrapped up in just 2 books???

I'm still debating this. I have the story finished, but I have to revise. You are going to love it. I think it's better than the first. Piper opens up a big can of whoop-a&&. lol. But, I do know that there are at least two more romances budding in the second book that would make great spin-offs. So, possibly we'll see her for a while yet. So, don't fret. I love her too. In fact, she's quite interruptive when I'm working on other projects. ;)

Rachel, you write fabulous heroines. Was there a particular inspiration for Ice, and what was the inspiration for her story?

Thank you! Of course, Isis had her own back-story, so that part was easy, but when I brought Isis into Ice I had planned on the story being an erotica. But as I wrote her crawling around the cockpit like a lust starved demon, I realized that wasn't who she was. I seriously re-wrote that first chapter like 10 times.

Okay, you're going to laugh at me, but I'm like the most overprotective mother ever. I've had dreams throughout my life that have come true. Call it premonition, ESP, whatever, but it has happened. When my son was in the womb, I dreamt of him running through our field with a stick in his hand and falling on it. He lost an eye. Horrible dream. Woke up sweating, crying, hurting. When he was born, I had it again and again. In my dream he was always about four. So, poor kid was never allowed to pick up a stick outside. Maybe I prevented it. My point is that I created Ice and the story on that dream. What would happen if you could step in and save someone that should be saved. Should be whole.

In Ice's case, she's saving a soul, not an eye, but you know what I'm getting at. She's protective of her people, her children. In Isis world, she was the mother to all. So, even though Ice fights this, she can't get over the protective instincts she has. There's my inspiration. I hope I answered the question. I think I went the long way to get to the answer. lol

Five Question Quickie....

Best book ever read?

I give a new book with every interview, lol.
The Darkest Hunger by Julianna Stone, is one of my top five right now.

Favorite place to write?
In my office. I'm surrounded by windows. When I get too far into myself, I just open a window and there is the world.

What are you wearing right now?
A very ugly nightie. It's 7:43 am. I guess some would call it a moo-moo. lol.

An interesting fact about yourself?
I'm 5'1" and chunky. So, you'll notice most of my heroine's have been stunted. This is the only angle I've ever seen the world from. lol.

Favorite food?

Cheesecake.

Thanks so much for taking the time to join us, and we just cannot wait for the release in the Phoenix’s series.
