ISBN: 031253373X
primary language: English
original title:Wings of Fire (World of Ascension, #3)
By night, the winged warrior Antony Medichi fights the death vampires who threaten his world. By day, he hunts the rogue vampires who invade Mortal Earth. But deep in his heart rages the fiercest battle of all—his soul-searing passion for the one mortal he is sworn to protect…the one woman he is doomed to love.

Parisa Lovejoy is so beautiful, and so powerful, that Antony cannot fight the feelings she arouses. But his unexpected love only intensifies his strength as her Guardian—a strength that is put to the ultimate test when Parisa is abducted. Her captor, Commander Greaves, enslaves mortal women for their blood. If Parisa hopes to survive—and ascend—she must forge an even deeper bond with Antony…in the flames of eternity.

Okay..

I finished and read this book in 2 days non-stop, and I’m still struggling to give it between a 4 and 5star rating. So, I decided to give this one 4 1/2 stars.

So, the story is good. The plot and world building is great. Yes, Caris Roane's ideas are similar to other authors, like J.R.Ward (the idea of brotherhood and mating bond) , Lara Adrian (even haven’t read her Midnight Breed series, I guess all that sums things up from this series), even Nalini Singh (the idea of winged creature from Guild Hunter). Add all of them together, and you've got World of Ascension. But, with its own unique world, plot, character and smexiness. Did I say smexiness? Yep, this series gets hotter and hotter in each book. I kept fanning my-self from the beginning till the last page.

BUT, with capital B here, I'm a little bit irritated with Ms Roane's writing style. She's always using the word, “cried" which sometimes it’s used in the wrong manner. I believe, maybe after book 3 she rarely used the word "cried" it was relieving. In Wings of Fire, the amount of "cried". It still bugged me, and I admit it made my reading enjoyment a little bit.. decreased =/. Then it’s made me wonder, if her editor did the job? No offense here, but with a good editing, the using of the word “cried" or "whatever" were not appropriately well used. Enough to make readers frown when reading the book.

In World of Ascension, even some readers found it to be similar to some well known series, but I enjoyed reading it till the end. This book gets better and better. The world is more complicated, the problems are still the same, and seem deeper. I would love to know how Ms Roane will take this series. It can be epic, or become a failure after a few books. Only time will tell...

For Paranormal Romances lovers who enjoy vampires, a complex world building, and a hot read, just read World of Ascension. A little note from me, some readers might struggle hard to read book #1 and find it too similar to other PNR books that have been released. But, just give it a chance, and read the series, maybe you'll like it and you’ll relate to me, who puts Ms. Caris Roane in my author auto-buy list.

Note : I will never see a tangerine or orange in the same way again. And maybe after I read Jean Pierre's book, Born of Ashes, which the next book released next year, will never see coffee and croissant the same way again...
