A Wife's Special Birthday.....

A wife decides to take her husband to a strip club for his birthday. They arrive at the club and the doorman says, "Hey, John! How ya doin'?" His wife is puzzled and asks if he's been to this club before. "Oh, no," says John. "He's on my bowling team."
When they are seated, a waitress asks John if he'd like his usual and brings over a Budweiser. His wife is becoming increasingly uncomfortable and says,"How did she know that you drink Budweiser?" "She's in the Ladies' Bowling League, honey. We share lanes with them."
A stripper then comes over to their table, throws her arms around John, and says "Hi Johnny. Want your usual table dance, big boy?" John's wife, now furious, grabs her purse and storms out of the club.
John follows and spots her getting into a cab. Before she can slam the door, he jumps in beside her. He tries desperately to explain how the stripper must have mistaken him for someone else, but his wife is having none of it. She is screaming at him at the top of her lungs, calling him every name in the book.
The cabby turns his head and says, "Looks like you picked up a real b*tch tonight, John."

Meanwhile things begin to heat up between Joie and Hawkins in and out of the bedroom when an ex-fiancĂ© suddenly shows up on the scene but the real surprise has yet to come. If the band wants to continue on the tour, they must figure out who is really behind it all before time runs out…

Thessa's Review:

  Four Solid Stars

By love we’ll beat back the pain we’ve found
You know
I mean to tell you all the things I’ve been thinking deep inside
My friend
With each moment the more I love you
~ “Crush” by the Dave Matthews Band

I was super excited to find out that the author was releasing a sequel to Foolish Games. I was even more excited, and honored, that the Ms. Leah Spiegel herself offered me a copy. So first off: Thank you, Leah! So it’s safe to assume that I was one happy camper when I started to dive into Joie and Hawkins’ world again.

Okay, before I say anything about the story, I HAVE to say something about Hawkins.

♥♥Hawkins, Hawkins, Hawkins♥♥ How much do I love thee? From zero to ten, ten being I’m utterly in love with you…my answer is: Infinity. Yea, that’s right. My love cannot be measured. It’s just too much. I LOVE YOU!

Alright, now that I have that out, onward…

Foolish Games is one of my favorite YA stories. If you haven’t read it, grab it now before continuing with this. This story picks up a little after Foolish Games ends. Joie and Hawkins are going strong, that is until Hawkins’ ex-fiancĂ©, Gwyneth, comes back into the picture. Obviously, I automatically hate this chick. Then the more I read, I start to really loathe her.

Along with the blonde B from the abyss, a terrorist threat is pounding at their arena door. The band is in danger (again) and after what happened in the first book, everyone is on edge. After Joie gets dangerously close to losing her life, Hawkins goes to the extreme to keep her safe. But is sending her away really the way to keep her out of harms way? With the strain of the eminent threat, as well as Gwyneth gunning for Hawkins, Joie is not too thrilled with Hawkins’ decision. How is this going to affect their relationship?

I really enjoyed this sequel, but I didn’t love it as much as Foolish Games. Hawkins is still amazing, but some of things Joie did got on my nerves. Seriously. If you’re dating the hot rock star, why on earth would you ever ignore his texts and calls? Better yet, how in the world do you not have your cell, and your all access backstage pass, on you at all times? You know security is tight and not everyone knows you, so why take the risk. I don’t know. Just little things like that made me roll my eyes and sigh in frustration. In addition, I wish this book had some steam. Denying me some Hawkins’ love is just cruel. lol. So aside from these minor infractions, I was thrilled to dive into this world again and hope there will be more Hawkins in the future. :)

The Mighty Storm By Samantha Towle

The Mighty Storm  It's been twelve years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved.

Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both fourteen.

Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there’s a complication to their instant feelings for one another – Will, Tru’s boyfriend of two years.

Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can't refuse - travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake.

Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the worlds most notorious womanizer?

Holly's Review:

You know, I keep asking myself what is not to love about a story about a sexy tattooed rockstar??? I really can't come up with anything! But this books is seriously about so much more. We have a friends to lovers story, a love triangle and lots, and lots of drama!

Now, a love triangle story kinda gets me nervous to read, especially when to tend to like all of three people and know you are going to root for the love of the hero and heroine, but that said I hate when someone gets hurt and you know that with any well written story you are going to hurt for the person left behind. No matter who they are. But that is the mark of a really well written story, right? Feeling the pain and pleasure right along with the characters.

Jake and Tru were best friends growing up and when Jake moved to the states and time passed they lost touch, as it happens sometimes but they never forgot each other. If fact Tru was madly in love with Jake when they were younger and finds herself nervous at the thought of having to face him after all this time when she is commissioned to interview him for the magazine she works for.

The interview is a success along with a lets catch up dinner and the next thing Tru knows, she finds herself touring with the band and writing Jake's biography. Now, you tell me how, even with a girl who has a wonderful boyfriend she loves is going to resist the pull of her first love??

I never knew it was possible to love men at the same time.
But I do. I love Will and Jake.
I just love Jake more, and that means I will have to let Will go.

I can't tell you how many times in this book I found myself full on crying. It is incredibly emotional and I loved every minute!!

Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

Thessa's Review:

Five big, enormous, gargantuan, gigantic, huge, mammoth, massive Stars!

I got schooled this year
by
a
Boy.

a boy that I'm seriously,
deeply, madly, incredibly,
and undeniably
in love
with.
And he taught me the most
important thing of all...
To put the emphasis
On life.

This book was pure brilliance. Shortly after the death of her father, Layken, her mother, & younger brother, Ky, moved from Texas to Michigan to start a new life. There she meets her neighbor, Will. Will is no stranger to love & loss. He lost his parents when he was only 19 years old and now is caring for his little brother, Caulder. Will & Layken almost immediately are drawn to one another. Their first date involved attending Club N9NE, which on Thursdays close for slam poetry. They have the perfect first date. However, just when Layken & Will were forming a relationship...slam! A serious roadblock emerges and the two cannot move forward in their relationship. Both struggle immensely with keeping their feelings in check, but they cope with it the best they can for the sake of both their little brothers, who are now BFFs. Just as Layken was starting to pick up the pieces...slam! Layken is hit with some devastating news about her mother. She just cannot catch a break.

I simply loved Will & Layken's relationship. They are so similar in so many ways, that you were hoping and praying that they were going to find a way to be together. The use of slam poetry in this book was utter genius. I've never read anything like it before and I effin LOVED it. Some of the pieces written, like the one above, stirred so many emotions in me. I was blown away. Wow.

I feel extremely fortunate to have come across this gem. After reading a strong recommendation from a book blogger, I was compelled to read this immediately. Thank God I did. Excellent, excellent, excellent. Highly recommend :)

Holly's Review:

Word of warning, do not read this book if you even think you might have the PMS - you will cry reading this book on a good day but if your like me and might even feel a tab hormonal you will be sobbing like a woman possessed! :)

In all seriousness, this book was amazing! This is a story of love, strength and over coming the odds! These have to be two of the strongest, most amazing people I have ever met. Will and Lake both survive tragedies and obstacles that should destroy them. This is the kind of book that really makes you want to be a better person.

I almost didn't pick this one up but I am so glad that I did, I honestly read this one and the sequel in less than 24 hours! Yep, they are that good! I am also a sucker for books that take place in my state, it's like I feel like I know all about the places in the book and the majority this one takes place in Ypsilanti and Detroit!

I also have to mention the poetry because I am not a huge poetry fan but this book really made me love it, slam poetry at least! I would totally frequent a slam poetry club if there was one near me, it was amazing! I think every time someone in this book slammed I was in tears.

I don't want you all to think that this book was just a total downer and sob fest, because that is not an accurate description at all. I cried, but not always because I was sad but in fact I cried a lot of happy tears too. Sometimes I even found myself snorting like a dork when I was sobbing so hard the words blurred and then I read something hysterical!! hahaha

Do yourself a favor, grab this book, and the sequel too! I guarantee if you do you will be glad that you did!

On Dublin Street By Samantha Young

On Dublin Street Four years ago, Jocelyn Butler left her tragic past behind in the States and started  in Edinburgh. Burying the grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without any real attachments has worked well for her so far but when Joss moves into a fantastic apartment on Dublin Street, her carefully guarded world is shaken to it's core by her new roommate's sexy older brother.

Braden Carmichael is a man who always gets what he wants. And what he wants is Jocelyn in his bed. Knowing how skittish Joss is concerning any kind of relationship, Braden proposes a sexual arrangement that should satisfy the intense attraction between them without it developing into anything 'more'. An intrigued Jocelyn agrees, completely unprepared for the Scotsman and his single-minded determination to strip the stubborn young woman bare... to the very soul.

Contains strong adult content. For readers ages 18+

 Holly's Review:

I really did love this book, but I am knocking off half a star and only going with 4.5 stars because I have a hard time with the heroine Jocelyn, I tried, I really did, but she got on my nerves with her inability to woman up to her issues and let people in.

Or maybe I just really liked Braden so much that her issues were too much for me. Anyway, all that said, my bitching is done, I promise, this was a great book with a smokin', dirty talking hero!

Jocelyn Butler endured a horrible tragedy at fourteen and for almost a decade has done everything she can to forget, including leaving her home in Virginia for beautiful Scotland. Believing that if she can avoid and real attachments to anyone or anything she will never have to feel that kind of pain and grief again. Enter Braden Carmichael! When Joss realizes that her sexy mystery man that she was forced to share a cab with is in fact her new roommates brother things start to get a little dicey!

Totally unable to fight the attraction between them Braden pursues Joss with vigor, which she attempts to thwart at every friggin' turn. This is where I started to get irritated with her. I get it! She has issues, don't we all? (sorry, I said my bitching was done, didn't I?) But Braden was freaking amazing. Holy Hotness Batman! And an oh so dirty talker, you all know how I love that! Needless to say he doesn't give up and all's well that ends well and we all know that's what going through all the emotional rides are for, to come out on the other side with a HEA, right?

We go through a lot of series heartache before the HEA and yes, I cried a bunch a real tears for lines like this...

Braden never once looked back and that was a good thing. If he had he would have seen Jocelyn Butler crying real tears for the first time in a long time, and he would have known that I lied. And lied big. For anyone who saw me, knew they were watching a heart in the process of breaking.

'I know you love me, Jocelyn, because there's no fucking way that I can be this much in love with you and not have you feel the same way. It's not possible.'

Like I said, I really did love this book! I also want to point out how much I enjoyed all of the secondary characters, some of them had great stories all there own. This is my first book by this author and if this one is any indication it will definitely not be my last!

Where There's Smoke By Karen Kelley

Where There's Smoke
When sexy wannabe-demon, Destiny Carter, is kicked out of Hell, she lands in Ft. Worth, Texas with one week to corrupt a soul. Or else. She slips into a slinky red dress, and heads straight for the delicious, corruptible looking cowboy at the bar.

But Chance Bellew has his own agenda-saving souls. He's not your typical angel. He’s a nephilim, to be exact. Centuries ago, angels came down from Heaven and mated with mortal women. When the women bore children, a new race was created. Immortals with powers—demigods, nephilim.

But the children don’t live by the same rules as mortals, or that of the typical, robe-wearing, bright light-surrounding-them angels. Hell, most of the time the nephilim are breaking the rules, and making up new ones as they go. As long as they don’t cross over to the dark side, everyone pretty much stays out of their way.

But sometimes a demon-in-training, who looks like Destiny, comes along and all Hell breaks loose.

Holly's Review:

I am a lover of stories about angels and demons so when I read the synopsis on this book I thought it sounded right up my alley! Boy, was I right! This was fun, hot, sexy story!

Destiny Carter is a demon in training, she has one week on Earth to corrupt a soul and bring it back to hell to become a full fledged demon. She ends up in a bar in Fort Worth, Texas with her eye on the sex on a stick cowboy bellied up to the bar. Little does she know that Chance Bellew is not your ordinary cowboy, he is in fact a nephilim. Centuries ago, angels came down from Heaven and mated with mortal women. When the women bore children, a new race was created. Immortals with powers—demigods, nephilim.

His task is to save Destiny's soul. Destiny is unaware of any of this but Chance knows exactly who Destiny is and what she is after. He also knows all about the horrific life that she lived and the horrific death that claimed her and how the demon promised her he could stop the pain and she would live out a peaceful eternity, in Hell! As if!!!!. They gradually begin to fall in love, which is a huge no-no for both of them. Destiny thinks that maybe she can work with this if only Chance will surrender his soul, they can live happily ever after in Hell. But Chance knows that everything the demons have told her is a lie and when she returns she will cease to be the person she is.

Chance also has the dilemma of getting too attached since once he saves her soul, if he can, she will be reborn and lost to him. There is no way they can be together. Or is there....

I love when a book introduces you to characters that you think you have figured out and then realize as you uncover more and more about them how absolutely wonderful they are. This was the case with both Chance and Destiny! Oh and did I forget to mention there is a ton of smokin' hot sex???

This was my first Karen Kelley book and I really, really enjoyed it. It also looks to be the first of a series. We were introduced to Chance's nephilim brothers as well and I am happy to see they will be getting their stories too!

Second Chances By Lauren Dane

Ten years ago, Rori Simon left town shy, unattractive and with zero self-esteem. Now she’s back, older, stronger and finally loving herself—and it shows. Hot men are soon knocking at her door, including Jude Callahan, the bad boy who starred in her teenage daydreams…and her adult fantasies.

Jude can’t believe the sexy, confident woman before him is actually Rori! She’s gotten under his skin like no other woman has…and brings out secret desires he can’t resist. He wants to dominate Rori with every fiber of his being. Wants to own her and pleasure her. To cherish her as he makes her his.

Rori discovers she likes being controlled. She also knows Jude is not a one-woman man. Everything changes when she meets Zach Helm. Edgy, sensual Zach knows just what she needs, and before long, she’s in love. Jude watches them together and wonders if he’s lost his chance forever…

Thessa's Review:

4.5 Stars

“Fate has a funny way of kicking you in the butt.” ~ Rori Simon

**Deep Breath** Okay. This was not what I expected. This was not predicable. This was not your typical contemporary/erotic romance. This story turned out to be more than I bargained for. It broke a lot of rules. Though I questioned its direction, it did weave one hell of a story.

This story had three main characters: Rori, Jude & Zach. Umm, yeah, no. This was not that type of romance either (lol). Rori has just returned home to Oakley, TN. People knew Rori as shy, overweight, and insecure when she left Oakley. Though she came back to Oakley as a well travel, well educated, confident, beautiful woman, she’s also recovering from a disastrous break-up from her cheating ex-boyfriend.

Jude has always been Rori’s fantasy. They’ve been long time friends, even during her awkward, shy faze. Jude notices the change in Rori and is all about “getting to know her again.” However, Rori knows all about Jude and his not-so-pristine reputation. Jude is well known as a ladies’ man, as well as a not-so-well-known Dom. Jude is definitely commitment phobic to the nth degree. Apparently, Rori is okay with that and is still willing to give Jude a shot. It’s more about using lust to lure him in. Plus, she’s all about playing the field as well, so who is she to judge. Their chemistry is hot and Jude is starting to feel more toward her, which he isn’t ready to admit and give up his ways. So what does he do?

He’d taken something that could have been really special, that was really special, and he’d ruined it because he’d been scared, because he couldn’t let go of a chance to stroke his ego and get laid.

Rori is fed up with his antics and breaks off their arrangement, much to his dismay. Immediately after their “break-up,” Rori meets Zach, another not-so-well-known Dom.

Zach is pretty much Jude’s opposite. He doesn’t play games, and goes for what he wants. He immediately sees Rori as an ideal submissive and is instantly smitten. Rori doesn’t stand a chance. He and Rori hit it off in a big way. He’s sweet, funny, charming and treats Rori like a queen. They’re relationship takes off and Jude is left in the background. He sees Rori around Zach and knows what his stupidity lost him. Has he lost her forever?

I really didn’t know where the story was headed, but now that I look back on it, I guess the events towards the end were inevitable. I just wasn’t prepared for it and it did kick me in the butt. I was heartbroken and felt that it was a little unfair, but then again, it turned around and still gave you a good ending. I don’t know. I still have mixed feelings about it, but it is what is and I guess I have to accept it. However, it was very entertaining, highly emotional and highly steamy story. I really enjoyed it.

Tampons,Yea That'd Be Fun!

A couple of older bums are relaxing on a park bench, bored out of their minds. They're not the brightest of crayons, but are known to be pretty resourceful - especially when bored.
So one of them says to the other, "What are we gonna do today?"
Tampon JokeThe other replies, "Well, how much money have you got?"
They both rummage through their pockets, emptying several days worth of lint and toothpics, managing to put together about four dollars and some change.
The first one says, "We can't do much with 4 bucks. Maybe we should just go home?"
The other, excited, replies, "Nah! Let's go buy a box of tampons!"
"Tampons? What are we gonna do with tampons?"
"Haven't you seen those TV commercials? With tampons we can run, and hike and swim, even go dancing. We need some tampons!"

 Holly's Review:

This book reminded me why I love Jennifer Crusie!! What a great story, it made me laugh right out loud and it made my chest ache at times! If you love a fun book with a everything from ghosts, a creepy mansion, a crazy medium, kids that need love and a HEA of a love lost that was found again!!

I love the fast paced, witty dialog that JC brings to her books and this one is no exception. I loved Andie from the beginning but you grow to love the rest of these characters, they are amazing. I am rambling, but I just can't say enough about Crusie's ability to tell a phenomenal story!! LOVED IT!

Divinity By Patricia Leever

Divinity Blurb:
Demons.

They’re everywhere, hiding in plain sight. Chances are, you’ve interacted with one or two of them in your lifetime without even realizing it...

Demon hunter Evelyn Brighton saves unsuspecting humans from the malevolent creatures masquerading around them every day. Working under the Lebriga Corporation’s direction, she never fails to bring her A-game with her keen skill, fiercely independent spirit, and the best weapon in her arsenal: the Divinity blade.

Evelyn’s world is turned on its ear, however, when she is ordered to train cocky new recruit Daniel Summers. They both feel an instinctive pull drawing them to one another, the ancient spells tattooed into their skin illuminating whenever the two hunters come into contact. But with evil looming over the city of Los Angeles, Evelyn and Daniel’s mutual competitiveness and sense of duty to Lebriga and all humankind forces them to hold back their desires. Will their restraint be enough to keep them focused and save southern California, or will the dark forces prevail?

Set in modern-day Los Angeles, Divinity is an action-filled, fast-paced marriage of urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Edgy, witty, and sexy, it will bind you in its spell.

Grace's Review:

Be swift, be strong”

Patricia Leever does it again in her second novel, Divinity, creating yet another strong heroine in 135-year-old demon hunter Evelyn Brighton.

Who knew Los Angeles has so many demons running around? I sure didn't. In this story, they are everywhere, living amongst the humans. Evelyn (who also goes by Evie, Ev, and E) works for the Lebriga Corporation. A fully-loaded, state-of-the-art mansion off of Mulholland serves as the Los Angeles branch of Lebriga. This is where Evelyn, the other hunters, their handlers, and their boss live. I must say that I just loved the dynamic and banter between all the characters. They are a tight-knit group who take fighting demons seriously.

Evelyn is one bad-ass, fearless hunter, and I wouldn't want to get in her way! When new recruit, Daniel Summers, moves into the house to train with Ev, he draws out feelings from her she's never had to deal with before. This is where I * squee * for Daniel, because he is so patient and understanding with Ev as she sorts out her feelings. With two very focused individuals, how long can they dance around their attraction for one another?

Now, you can't fight nasty, smelly demons, goblins, and trolls without some ultra-cool weapons! Ev's weapon of choice is the Divinity blade. Where can I get me one of those? There are also the tattoos, which play a significant role in the demon-fighting. All the hunters have tattoos decorated all over their bodies. It's pretty cool how they are used, if you ask me!

Divinity was such a fun and fast-paced read for me. I wanted the story to keep going and going. An urban fantasy, paranormal romance filled with action, gory details, and just the right amount snark. Overall entertaining and enjoyable!

Many thanks to Omnific for sending me an ARC for review. Divinity releases September 25, 2012.

Insufferable Proximity By Z.Stefani

Insufferable ProximitySome one is hell-bent on sabotaging Julian King.

Julian is a hot-shot lawyer and a natural born womanizer with an unnatural addiction to the opposite sex. He also happens to be the boss's son, which makes him a natural target.
With a Rolodex filled with scorned women, a brother who loathes him and the competitors he defeated on his way to the top; there were plenty of people that would love to see him burn.

But his money was on the person he despised most, his enemy Heaven Deville.

Heaven is an aggressive, ambitious, destructively-driven lawyer who HATES Julian King.
The two stubborn lawyers were currently locked in a brutal battle for the coveted partnership position at the firm; and Heaven would do ANYTHING to prevent her arch rival from winning.

WARNING- CONTAINS STRONG SEXUAL CONTENT! Check a sample at my website- zstefani.com

Thessa's Review:

4.75 Stars

“I want you – every inch of you. I want you naked and on your knees before me, I want to stick my tongue in every orifice on your body, and I want to fuck you until you’re begging me to stop.” ~ Julian

Well, if that line doesn’t want to make you read this book, I don’t know what will. Holy smokes! Is it hot in here, or is it just me? Don’t you just love surfing Goodreads and accidentally find something you absolutely just loved? Yea, that happened to me with this book. It was just a blip on my radar, under my “on-the-fence-to-read” bookshelf, when I said, “what the hell, this looks good.” Picked it up, started reading and I couldn’t stop. In less than 24 hours, I was finished. According to Amazon, this is a 700+ page book. I flew through this and I just devoured it. Oh, yeah. I LOVED IT.

“He’s a cocky, egotistical, competitive, selfish, self-righteous egomaniac, and there’s nothing sexy about that.” ~ Heaven

Julian King is all Alpha male. With all that ego and arrogance, it’s no wonder he’s such a man-whore. It’s true. He openly admits to being a sex addict. There’s no way he’ll ever commit to one woman. Why would he? He’s the son of Ayden King, the head of a very prestigious law firm, plus, he’s sexy, rich, well endowed and his sexual escapes are the stuff of legends. He leaves a trail of broken hearts all over the city. He has many enemies. So it’s no surprise that someone is out to sabotage his career.

She was driving him insane, he couldn’t stand her, but he’d never wanted a woman in his life as badly as he wanted her right now.

Heaven Deville is a twenty-six year old career driven, virginal woman. She has no time for men; she never has. Raised in a brothel, she grew up leery of men, determined to have no man control her or her life. Even during college, she stayed away from the social scene and opted to focus on her career. She wants to be known for her wits and callousness in the courtroom and even dresses in ill-fitting clothes to drive home the point that she wants to be taken seriously. There’s no mistaking her for sleeping her way to the top. Because of this drive, she often comes out cold and unapproachable. She has no problem standing toe-to-toe with the arrogant Julian King.

He’d never been so giddy before, his head swarmed with visions of Ms. Deville on her knees, begging him to accept her apology and expressing her sorrow for being such a bitch all those years. Damn, he wanted to dominate her…

Julian and Heaven have never gotten along. For the past three years, they do nothing but fight. They’re the top two attorneys in their law firm and are constantly at each other’s throat. Heaven can’t stand Julian, so when the two are competing for a partnership position at the firm, she will do anything to win, including risk her beloved career as a lawyer. When Julian catches her in the act, he comes up with plan: Submit to him for thirty days or he’ll turn her in and ruin her career. So what choice does she have? None really, but she definitely won’t make it easy. Julian has got his work cut out to break the ice queen, Heaven.

Their fights in the office are epic. All that animosity between is just fuel to the fire. When Heaven signs the contract, she binds herself to Julian for one month. From one extreme to another, sparks fly between the two, the good and the bad. No one has ever gotten under Julian’s skin like Heaven. Even under his control, she continually finds way to disobey him. It’s safe to say, these two have combustible chemistry. It was HOT! I was definitely not disappointed with the many, MANY steamy scenes in this story. ;)

“Has he ever touched you?”
“No, I told you no one has.”
“Only me?” He asked and she nodded.
“Only you.”
“Say it.” He demanded.
“Only you’ve touched me, I swear.” She said, knowing it would help to sate him.
“I’m warning you, Heaven,” Julian bent his head down, his lips inches from hers, “it better stay that way.” He kissed her, and began moving his hips again; he pumped in and out of her body faster, forcing her back to the seat.

I just LOVED how possessive Julian became of Heaven. Since he is obviously her first, he feels this overwhelming need to protect and possess her. I don’t know what it is about possessive men, but I find it utterly sexy. So what happens when their contract is up, when he will no longer have any say in what Heaven does? Will Julian go back to his man-whore days? How would he feel when Heaven starts to see other men?

Of course the story is predictable, but I didn’t care. I just LOVED it. However, there are two reasons why I didn’t give it the full five stars: One: The way Heaven lost her v-card was a little heartbreaking. She waited all this time, and to lose it like that, well…that was definitely not the way to go, Julian. Two: It ended too abruptly. I would’ve loved an epilogue or something. Either way, I still loved everything else about it. Highly recommend for those looking for a long, steamy read with a sexy, possessive Alpha male Hero.

Pulled Along By Christine D'Abo

Pulled Long

For months, coffee shop owner Ian Long has fantasized about a customer he knows only as "Blue Eyes." Until he learns Blue Eyes is in the midst of a divorce—the last thing Ian wants is to be the rebound experiment of a straight guy. Giving in to lust, he invites the man into the cafe after hours and they indulge in a little exhibitionist play, but Ian is unwilling to get involved.

But when he’s forced to see Jeff again to return his briefcase, Ian finally agrees to go out on a date. Dinner quickly becomes an erotic encounter in a special room at the sex club Mavericks, and Ian realizes Jeff satisfies desires he didn’t even know he had. The more he gets to know Jeff as a person, the harder it is to resist falling for him.

Jeff makes it clear he’s interested in more than just sex. He wants to go public with their relationship in more ways than one. But can Ian open his heart, when he fears it will be broken?
Holly's Review:

I was anxiously awaiting this book ever since I picked up the first in the series. I was very intrigued by Ian and Jeff(Blue Eyes) ever since their flirtation began in book 1. My only real complaint is that I would have loved to have spent more than 91 pages with the wonderful men. They both said more than once during the story that even though they had been flirting for 10 months, they didn't know each other that well and I felt the same way. I wish that we could have learned more about Jeff, about his past, his ex-wife, etc. We do get a brief glimpse into Ian's past and what his demons are but it seemed as though his issues were resolved and dealt with rather quickly. Even though it may sound as though I'm complaining here I really did enjoy this book, I loved Jeff & Ian and there was plenty of wonderfully hot m/m sex - so if that's not your thing this book may not be for you. But if you are a die hard m/m lover like me, I would highly recommend this quick, yummy read!

Legacy Of The Witch By Maggie Shayne

Legacy of the Witch (The Portal, #0.5)

"Once upon a time, there lived three witches…"

As a child, Amarrah loved her grandmother’s stories of three witches who were members of the king’s harem—but they were more than just stories. Amarrah knew she had been there with them…and now their legacy, along with an ancient box that once belonged to them, lies in her hands.

Charged with keeping the box safe, Amarrah is heartbroken when it is stolen from her while she moves to America. Years later, she is shocked to see it on TV and is determined to get it back. Tracking the artifact leads her to Sergeant Harrison Brockson, a handsome soldier who stirs memories of a man she knew centuries ago in ancient Babylon. Is Harrison the key to finding the box—or could he be her destiny?

Prequel novella to Maggie Shayne’s exciting trilogy, "The Portal"
Ren's review:

Legacy of The Witch is the prequel of The Portal series. I know about the new series by Maggie Shayne, since she made a gorgeous website for The Portal. Even made a song for this series. Such a dedication!

As for this novella, I enjoy the story. Its fresh! Love the Babylonian myth and I always love anything that connects to the  Middle Eastern  culture. But then some things bugged me. Such as:

- The 1st POV. I'm not fans of POV. Especially with the PNR genre.
- The destiny and reincarnation things. While I'm okay with the reincarnation, my feeling is a little bit mixed about the destiny part. Don't get me wrong. I love destiny trope, but I can't feel the connection between the heroine , Amarrah and the hero , Harrison Brockson. Yes, they both are reincarnated, but it's the chemistry from the reincarnation? How if Harrom, Amarrah's Babylonians' lover was born into another man? I just can't feel the connection between these two.
- When Amarrah remember her memory in Babylonia era, there's 2 things that bugged me. First, the word "sarong". Is that word exist like 5000-10000 BC? Sarong is a term for clothes from Indonesia (yes, my country!) and Malaysia. Even though people in Arabic peninsula use it, I doubt the word "sarong" already invented thousands year ago. Then when Amarrah called Indira with "Indy". Is the nickname too modern?

Anyway, with the pros and cons, I still enjoyed Legacy of The Witch. And I can't wait to read the first book of The Portal series, Mark of The Witch. Hope the book is better than this :)
