Man of the Year (Vice & Virtue #2) by Bianca Giovanni

In this continuation of the Vice & Virtue series friends-turned-lovers James and Lola are in Las Vegas for the Adult Video Awards. He is up for the biggest prize of the night, Man of the Year, and with his recent retirement, he's bound to win. Will an event celebrating his previous sexual exploits challenge his relationship with his inexperienced girlfriend? How will Lola cope with being thrust into James' spotlight? By the end of this whirlwind weekend, the two will learn that what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas.

Holly's Review

It seriously only took me a few minutes to fall in love with James and that love has grown through all the books in this series. Now really, James is the ultimate book boyfriend, in that I mean a bit too good to be true! We are talkin’ 6’5 hot, sexy, porn star who has given up the porn life for the love of his life Lola. He is an amazing lover, super in tune to what Lola needs and wants and is all about her pleasure before his own!! Oh, and did I forget to mention INCREDIBLY WELL endowed?? I know, I told ya right, total fantasy!! It does hurt that this is how I see him in my head, and he is even described as closely resembling my actual fantasy lover, Jason Momoa!!

This is how I picture the beautiful James Laird – giving Lola the ‘James Laird Sex Laser Beam’

Ok, now the down and dirty, no pun intended, on this yummy book! Man of the Year is actually book 5 in this series and if you have not read the first 4, you absolutely have to before you read this one. This is not as daunting a task as you might think since the first three are fairly short novella’s. They simply introduce us to James and Lola and being us into their wonderful relationship. James and Lola have been best friends since they were children but NEVER more than friends. Though James is crazy protective and Lola measures every guy up to James. Of course nobody measures up for either of them. It is not until the 4th, and finally full length book that they finally realize they belong together.

Prior to this though, James has worked his way sexually through the female population sexually and now finds himself in the porn industry as the newest up and coming star. Don’t get me wrong, James could not be a sweeter guy, he is kind, sensitive and never cruel, - he simply loves women!! All the while Lola has remained a virgin and could never quite understand why she couldn’t find a man she loved as much as James!!

Well duh?? They belong together, that’s why!!

Now that you are up to speed, let’s talk about Man of the Year!! In this story we find James and Lola together and enjoying their new found relationship, having LOTS of sex of course! We find them on their way to the Adult Entertainment Awards where James is up for the Man of the Year award, this is the big one, along with many other awards. The reason this is such a big deal is that James is getting out of the biz and his porn family is sad to see him go. That is all right with James though because he wants nothing more than Lola, PERIOD!

She teases me sometimes for how cautious I and careful I am with her, but I can’t help it. How else are you supposed to make love to an angel?

*Swoon, right?*

In this book we find James thrilled about giving up this life to start his life with Lola, he can’t imagine having sex with anyone but Lola but Lola being new on a whole to sex can’t imagine why or how James would want to give up all of the crazy, kinky things to simply have ‘regular sex’ with her!

Maybe it’s vanilla sex, but I’ve found that vanilla sex can be more fun than crazy sex if the person you’re doing it with is someone you love. You make me love vanilla, baby. It’s my favorite flavor now

James loves Lola with all of his heart and soul and he has to make her understand and believe that she is everything to him!! In this girl’s opinion, he does a MAGNIFICENT job!!!

5 of 5 stars false

Mexican Electric Chair.....

Three women go down to Mexico one night to celebrate college graduation. They get drunk and wake up in jail, only to find that they are to be executed in the morning - though none of them can remember what they did the night before.

The first one, a redhead, is strapped in the electric chair and is asked if she has any last words. She says, "I just graduated from Trinity Bible College and believe in the almighty power of God to intervene  on the behalf of the innocent." They throw the switch and nothing happens. They all immediately fall to the floor on their knees, beg for forgiveness, and release her.

The second one, a brunette, is strapped in and gives her last words. "I just graduated from the Harvard School of Law and I believe in the power of justice to intervene on the part of the innocent." They throw the switch and again, nothing happens. Again they all immediately fall to their knees, beg for forgiveness and release her.

The last one (you know it), a blonde, is strapped in and says, "Well, I'm from the  University of Texas and just graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and I'll tell ya right now, ya'll ain't gonna electrocute nobody if you don't plug this thing in."

Hot Ticket By Olivia Cunning (#3)

Hot Ticket (Sinners on Tour, #3) Fourth in Olivia Cunning's hard-rockin' erotic romance series, Hot Ticket delves into the oh-so-skilled sensuality of Sinners' enigmatic bass guitarist, Jace Seymour.

When Jace walked through the doors of Aggie's dungeon, the last thing he expected was to find self-forgiveness and the love of a remarkable woman. But when a terrible accident sidelines Jace during the band's tour, the burdensome chains of his past wrap ferociously around his heart. Determined to crack through Jace's armored shell, Aggie must go beyond her usual methods to mend his heart to love again.

Grace's Review:

Sinners, Sinners. Sinners!!!
Jace, Jace, Jace!!!

I love the Sinners and this series! Hot Ticket was freaking amaze-balls! WOW! It is extremely emotional, full of angst, absolutely rockin', and hot hot hot as expected. I should begin by mentioning that I have NOT read Double Time yet. Yeah, I know, I just really, really want to read this series in order. So far, Hot Ticket is my favorite in the series. After getting to know the Sinners in Backstage Pass, I just knew Jace's story was going to be big. He is “Little Man”, the newest Sinner, the soft-spoken one, and we were treated to glimpses of his kinky side.

“Have you been naughty, Jace? Do you need a spanking?”

“Hurt me, Mistress V. Please, hurt me.”

The beginning of Hot Ticket overlaps with events that occur in book 2, Rock Hard. So, we get to see the stuff that happened in Vegas through Aggie and Jace's eyes. It was actually really nice to revisit certain scenes from a different viewpoint. Aggie is a dominatrix who is good at what she does, and of course, Jace is very much interested in her services. Their first session together turns into something unbelievably eye-opening for both of them. It is the first time we get an idea that Jace's emotional pain runs pretty deep. Oh, boy, does it!

“Your beauty steals my breath,” he murmured. “Your kiss steals mine.”

Aggie has become my favorite heroine in this series. I haven't met Reagan yet, so I can't compare, but I loved getting to know Aggie. She's fearless, patient, and understands Jace's need for physical pain. She also doesn't take any crap he throws her way. She doesn't take crap from anyone! I think the other band members were scared of her, LOL! When Jace finally spills about his past, my heart just completely broke for him! :( Aggie knew how to break him down so that he could finally open his heart. They truly did connect on so many levels. Their intimate scenes...explosive, sensual, pretty darn HOT! Hello, there's some ménage deliciousness, too!

Hot Ticket showed a lot of really good interaction between all the band members. This is why I love this series so much. Even if the story focuses on certain characters, Olivia Cunning weaves in the band's camaraderie so well. There were on-the-road bonding moments, hilarious ROFL moments (love all the new tats *bursts out laughing*), even the amazing connection they share on stage during their concert was fun to see. All along Eric has been saying that the new album they've been working on is cursed. Maybe he's right, who knows. I certainly wasn't expecting some of the things to happen, but in the end all the shit they deal with only brings them closer together.

Eric's new nickname for Jace is more accurate, yeah? God, I love these two! I have a feeling Eric's story is going to be wicked awesome! I can't wait! Eric Sticks needs a great big hug from everyone.

All you Sinners groupies better read Hot Ticket, because Jace has got a lot of stuff to unload. Gotta love the guy. :)

Need a bad day to get into heaven......

It got crowded in heaven so, for one day and one day only, it was decided to only accept people who had really bad day on the day they died.

St. Peter was standing at the pearly gates and said to the first man, "Tell me about the day you died." The man said, "Oh, it was awful. I was sure my wife was having an affair, so I came home early to catch her with him. I searched all over the apartment but couldn't find him anywhere. So I went out onto the balcony, we live on the 25th floor, and found this man hanging over the edge by his fingertips. I went inside, got a hammer, and started hitting his hands. He fell, but landed in some bushes. So, I got the refrigerator and pushed it over the balcony and it crushed him. The strain of the act gave me a heart attack, of which I died from."

St. Peter couldn't deny that this was a pretty bad day, and since it was a crime of passion, he let the man in. He then asked the next man in line about the day he died. "Well, sir, it was awful," said the second man. "I was doing aerobics on the balcony of my 26th floor apartment when I twisted my ankle and slipped over the edge. I managed to grab the balcony of the apartment below, but some maniac came out and started pounding on my fingers with a hammer. Luckily I landed in some bushes. But, then the guy dropped a refrigerator on me!"

St. Peter chuckled, let him into heaven and decided he could really start to enjoy this job. "Tell me about the day you died?” he said to the third man in line. "OK, picture this; I'm naked, hiding inside a refrigerator...."

"Hello, Norman," she whispered, holding fast to Maggie's hand.
"Mae," he returned through tight lips that broke into a wide smile when he looked down at the little girl with gray eyes and red hair. "Aren't you a beauty, little lass? A fine, fine, bonnie little lass." He held his arms out for her but, even though Maggie wasn't afraid and even tried to go to him, Mae wouldn't let her.
"You shouldn't be here," Maven warned, "you're upsetting them."
Norman looked past Mae up the hillside to the clusters of Fey in the trees most holding a bow and arrow aimed in his direction. "Let 'em be upset then," he sneered, "I want my daughter."
Suddenly Maggie began jumping up and down in place while she happily exclaimed, "The Prince! The Prince!" She wriggled her hand away from her mother and ran to him to have him sweep her up in his big arms and hold her tight.
"I can't believe ya told her that stupid story, woman," Norman remarked something near as a laugh as he took in the sight of the girl in his hand. "That's right, little darlin', I'm the Prince, I'm your Da." He planted a big kiss on her cheek before holding her up high with the full extension of his strong arms and wheeled her about in the air. "What's her name?" he demanded in a grunt overshadowed by bliss.
"Magdalena," Maven whispered.

This was the Age of Men, of War, and Conquest. Looking down at his fingertips sparkling with glitter he knew not all of the Faery abandoned this place. Despite the dangers to them, they stayed hidden in this hill. Why that should be, he didn't know. "I know you can hear me, so listen good. If you're planning on joining in, don't," Ares warned in a low voice as he spoke to the night, "this is the province of men, not giggling bugs." Rudely he flicked the sparkling dust from his fingers and finished his trip down the hill where he vanished and then reappeared behind the city walls in his own rather plush quarters in the remains of Dunbar Castle. Grabbing up a fine crystal decanter in his big mitt, he poured half of the full container of the best Scot's Whisky one could steal down his gullet. Dawn was still several hours away and he was in the mood for female company to while away the time between now and the battle.
Throwing open the heavy oak door, he looked out into the corridor with its burning torches lighting up the remaining grandeur of the crumbling castle walls. He saw the guards at either end. "Bring me a bitch, a young one," he ordered and then slammed the door only to open it again just as one of the men started off. "Make it two." Ares slammed the door again. Restless and bored, he paced quickly about the room throwing his hand absently in the air, making the hearth spring up in a roaring blaze. The time between the planning and the attacking was always the worst. The waiting seemed to draw out forever no matter what he did to speed it up. Walking heavily back and forth, his boots clopping against the stone below his big feet, he downed the rest of the whisky then snapped his fingers to refill the delicate decanter from the casks in the basement. Just as he thought he'd lose all control to impatience, there was a knock on the door. "Took you long enough!" he snarled as he threw it open to see the guard standing there with two Celtic beauties. Ares' eyes appraised them even as they refused to meet his gaze. "These will do." He grabbed each young woman by the forearm and threw them into the room. "Bye." He shut the door in the guard's face and locked it tight before turning to his new guests. "Hello ladies, so good of you to join me tonight."
They didn't speak, they simply huddled together staring at him knowing what was coming and trying to figure a way to stop it. Although they didn't know his name, he was familiar to them; they'd seen him around the town and knew the tall dark stranger to be a mercenary. The man had no allegiance to Britain or the Crown; he was only here for the glory of the battle and only the battle. He spoke with an odd accent they'd never heard and he was darker skinned than any man they'd ever seen with a body taller and stronger than a tree.
Ares swaggered toward them, his dark eyes scanning their bodies up and down, down and up, and side to side, as he bit down on his bottom lip. Slowly he walked around them. Both of them were nineteen or maybe twenty, both of them with fiery red hair and crystal blue eyes, their alabaster faces covered with freckles. Strong bodies from working in fields had firm breasts below their flimsy cotton chemises. In the firelight, he clearly saw the curves of their shapely legs leading to the places between, the night's destinations. "Sisters," he remarked as his full lips turned into a sly smirk and he drew in breath over his sharp teeth. "How nice...for me," he whispered as he stopped in front of what he believed to be the younger of the two. She didn't look at him so Ares grabbed her jaw and forced her head upward to meet his cold stare. "There's no reason this has to go badly, hmmm? A little cooperation and I guarantee you'll enjoy the rest of the night." His smile widened when he felt her tremble and saw her pretty eyes dart away from him.

With Everything I Am (Bk#2) By Kristen Ashley

With Everything I Am (The Three, #2)One night, Callum is driven into the woods by instinct, an instinct to protect… what, he does not know. Until he, in the form of wolf, meets a young, human child who he is instantly drawn to in a fierce way he doesn’t quite understand.

But in the end, she protects him. Then he finds this human child is his destined mate.

Sonia Arlington has lived a lonely life. She has certain abilities that make her strange and she has a rare disease that, if untreated, could kill her. Her mother and father are assassinated but before, her father makes her vow that she will never let others discover her abilities. This forces Sonia to stay distant from others, no family, no close friends and always guarding against exposure.

Then the intelligence leaks that Sonia is Callum’s human mate. He is now King of the Werewolves and therefore she becomes targeted by the wolves who have aligned with other immortals to enslave the human race. Callum has war on his hands and is forced to claim his mate and quickly integrate Sonia into a world that is strange and frightening to her.

As Sonia attempts to adjust, not entirely successfully, Callum attempts to cope with the knowledge that his mate is mortal. He will have her beauty and gentleness only the length of a mortal life and as werewolves only have one mate their entire lives, their union for him is unbearably bitter as well as unbelievably sweet.

Then he finds that due to her illness, her human life will be even shorter and he is forced to endure the increased bitter while doing everything he can to make Sonia’s short life incredibly sweet.

 Holly's Review:

I LOVE KRISTEN ASHLEY!!! I LOVE HER, I LOVE HER, I LOVE HER!!!

Callum is the King of Werewolves, Big, Bad, HOT, Sexy ALPHA!! The End!!

Just kidding, though it could be and that would be enough for you to pick this book up! :) - Seriously though, this is the second book in The Three series and it was oh so good!

Again, Callum is the King of Werewolves and has known about his mate since she was a child. The kicker is she is HUMAN! When she is just a little girl, she protects Cal from some hunters the night her parents are killed. Sonia, sorry, forgot to mention her name, now Sonia has a few abilities of her own but has always been told to hide them carefully. She knows nothing of Cal or the wolves or any of this business and simpley goes on about her life, albeit her somewhat lonely life.

The night Cal comes to her and takes her away to claim her did not go as planned. Her life was threatened and he was forced to proceed. He has never been crazy about having a human mate and let me tell you their long road to learning how to deal with each other had so many bumps even I was really starting to feel for them. As I said Cal is soooo Alpha that he even got on my nerves on occasion by not taking into account how much Sonia DID NOT know about his people, his culture or anything! But he is, like all KA's Alphas so sweet and amazing under all that rough that you just melt like a puddle of goo and all is forgiven! You know what I mean girls!!

“I loved you before you took your first breath on this earth because that was my fate but you made me love you because you’re just… fucking… you.”

Seriously...like you could resist that??!

Of course, as KA always does, she runs our emotions through the ringer(have I mentioned I love her)and when I finish one of her books I for one am thoroughly satisfied!!

This series is a three book series, for anyone who doesn't know, so please don't read this one until you have read Until The Sun Falls From The Sky as it is book one and (yay) we get to visit with Luci
en and Leah a little towards the end of this book :) I can't wait for book three to see exactly how this series will conclude. Because in this book as well as the first, even if you think you have it all figured out KA throws a few curve balls in there every now and then!!

You know I LOVE HER, right??

Temperature.......

A big shot business man had to spend a couple of days in the hospital. He was a royal pain to the nurses because he bossed them around just like he did his employees. None of the hospital staff wanted to have anything to do with him.

The head nurse was the only one who could stand up to him. She came into his room and announced, "I have to take your temperature." After complaining for several minutes, he finally settled down, crossed his arms and opened his mouth. "No, I'm sorry, the nurse stated, "but for this reading, I cannot use an oral thermometer." This started another round of complaining, but eventually he rolled over and bared his rear end. After feeling the nurse insert the thermometer, he heard her announce, "I have to get something. Now you stay JUST LIKE THAT until I get back!"

She leaves the door to his room open on her way out. He curses under his breath as he hears people walking past his door laughing. After almost an hour, the man's doctor comes into the room. "What's going on here?" asked the doctor. Angrily, the man answers, "What's the matter, Doc? Haven't you ever seen someone having their temperature taken?" After a pause, the doctor confesses, "Well, no. I guess I haven't. Not with a carnation anyway."

The Love Of My Life By Traci L. Slatton

The Love of My (Other) Life
Painter Tessa Barnum is struggling. Her husband left, she's broke, about to be evicted and has made some serious missteps in her career.
When scruffy Brian Tennyson explodes into her life, claiming to be from an alternate universe, Tessa thinks he's a crazy vagabond - albeit one with mysterious and undeniable appeal.

Then he informs her that in his world, they're married.

Tessa's universe is turned upside down as the truth of love and loss, victory and humiliation, and second chances comes back to her. She has to choose love over logic to reach that state of anticipation where miracles unfold. The secret to her own life was always in her heart.

Holly's Review:

Truth be told, I passed this book up when I was browsing Netgalley simply because I thought it was erotica and I was looking for something a little different-duh, look at the cover! This is the perfect example of NEVER judge a book by its cover!! So when I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review I actually took a look at the synopsis. It sounded really interesting and WOW was I glad I gave it a shot!

Most of the science/physics talk went right over this girls head but all in all this book wasn’t about that, it was all about that one true love, your soul mate that exists in any universe, over and over in all of our lives. In each universe the players are the same they just may have different roles and if we are lucky we find each other!

This book was a little quirky and definitely won’t be for everyone, but I for one really enjoyed it. When we meet Tessa she is a little scattered, struggling artist, divorced from her husband and trying to get some order into her life. She runs into Brian Tennyson, who she believes is a homeless vagrant and he immediately throws his arms around her hugging her and calling her by name! Understandably she is a bit confused and a little freaked, but it gets crazier when he tells her that he is her husband in another universe and is only her visiting for 5 days 4 hours and 22 minutes, oh and he needs a place to stay!!

Tessa thinks that Brian is basically a crazy stalker, since he seems to be everywhere that she is even though she continually tells him to get lost and runs away from him. I know that this all seems silly and there really is a silly Big Bang Theory element to this book but it is, for all intents and purposes about the ultimate true love and the lengths we would go to find and keep it.

“What really matters is the non-physical, non-quantifiable thing, the feeling that when you’re with her, you’re more alive than you ever imagined possible. Even when it hurts. Even when she’s gone."

I am not going to give too much away with this review, just that this book made me laugh and cry and did not end the way I expected. It was different, quirky and fun to read and these days when so many books can really fall into the predictable category being pleasantly surprised is refreshing!

“You’re not the Tessa Barnum I married, but you’re a perfect flowering of the Tessa Barnum seed that was planted and bloomed in this world.”

I loved Brian & Tessa and I am thankful that I got to spend this little bit of time with them in my world!

***I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review***
